Since its inception, Tihu College has been a cornerstone of educational excellence and human development. With a legacy spanning six decades, our institution has consistently excelled in academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular endeavours. Our commitment is to provide you with the best education, nurturing your growth as responsible individuals poised to thrive in an ever-changing world. We are dedicated to ensuring that the knowledge you gain here serves as a springboard to your future success.
In line with our mission to empower students and contribute to societal progress, we have introduced innovative courses such as BCA, PGDCA, and a one-year Diploma in Food Processing under the Community College Scheme of the UGC, opening doors for local entrepreneurs. Furthermore, to meet the growing demand for higher education, we have expanded our offerings to include Post-Graduate courses in Education and History, with plans underway to introduce Post-Graduation in English and Geography.
The Department of Zoology has been actively engaged in projects aimed at producing vermicompost, while efforts to enhance technological literacy through modern facilities like digital and multimedia classrooms are ongoing. Our newly established Conference Room, accommodating 80 attendees, serves as a hub for departmental seminars and workshops, enriching your academic journey.
I am delighted to share that our efforts to enhance infrastructure and facilities have come to fruition, thanks to generous contributions from the Government of Assam, our Honourable Rajya Sabha MP, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and grants from various sources. These investments have realised projects such as the Administrative Building, Central Library, and the construction of new classrooms and an IT Lab, enhancing your learning environment.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that Tihu College has been granted the prestigious Star College Scheme by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, benefiting departments in Botany, Physics, and Chemistry. These grants elevate the quality of education provided by our institution, underscoring our commitment to excellence.
Recognising the vital role of co-curricular activities in holistic student development, Tihu College spares no effort in nurturing diverse talents. Our successful organisation of the Gauhati University Inter-College Zonal Youth Festival in 2017 is a testament to our dedication to promoting student engagement and achievement on regional and national platforms.
